About the Organization

Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS) is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 as part of the regional Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) network, which operates in Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia.

For over 20 years, YIHR KS has worked to protect and promote human rights, democratic values, and the rule of law in Kosovo and the region. The organization focuses particularly on dealing with the past, reconciliation, youth empowerment, civic engagement, and strengthening democratic participation at the local and regional levels.

Human Rights & Reconciliation

Promoting human rights, democratic values, dealing with the past, and regional reconciliation across the Western Balkans.

Youth Empowerment & Actions

Organizing workshops, seminars, exchanges, internships, public actions, and advocacy campaigns to equip young citizens.

Major Festivals & Pride

Core partner in organizing the Kosovo Pride Parade and the "Mirëdita, Dobar Dan!" Festival to foster inclusive dialogue.

Václav Havel Human Rights Prize

Awarded in 2019 for outstanding civil society action in defense of human rights in Europe and beyond.
